Uncollected parcels from pickup points

Updated 18.10.2026

Pickup points, such as parcel lockers, collection points and post offices, have become an essential part of modern logistics, as they give users flexible and fast access to their shipments. On the other hand, a pickup point can be a critical delivery event, since customers quite often do not collect their parcels from pickup points.

The basic measures companies should apply consistently include:

  • Additional notifications for parcels waiting to be collected

Sending the initial notification that the parcel has arrived works, but it is essential to add a system of follow-ups and remindersif the parcel is not collected within a certain time. With an additional notification, we want to encourage the customer to collect the parcel and get them excited again about the products in it.

Send the customer a reminder by SMS or Viber. In the message, include a link to the Tracking page, where the customer can see the products waiting in the parcel.

  • Encouraging collection with rewards

Uncollected parcels are a cost for the whole logistics chain. That is why it makes sense to offer the customer a reward for collecting the parcel in the last message before it is returned to the sender. This creates positive motivation to collect it just before the parcel goes back.

When sending the last message, include an encouraging message with a reward for collecting the parcel. Example message:

"Collect your parcel and as a thank you, we will send you a 10% discount for your next online purchase!"

The discount is then sent automatically by email when a successful collection from the parcel locker is recorded.
